VEOLIA ENERGIE PERFORMANCE

VEOLIA ENERGIE PERFORMANCE is a subsidiary of the Veolia Group specialising in energy services. The company supports manufacturers by offering integrated solutions ranging from the design and operation of technical installations to the financing of energy efficiency projects. It is committed to the energy transition by developing sustainable and innovative solutions to reduce its customers’ carbon footprint.

As part of its energy performance projects, Veolia Énergie Performance relies on a LoRaWAN remote meter reading solution for industrial buildings to obtain reliable, usable and long-term data.

CHALLENGE: Implementing a reliable metering plan and modernising measurements in industrial buildings using a LoRaWAN remote reading solution

To support its customers in their energy performance strategy, Veolia needs to strengthen its metering plan and have reliable and accurate data.

Its requirements:

  • remote reading of gas and water meters across multiple sites,
  • renewal of the ambient temperature sensor fleet to overcome the limitations of traditional sensor networks.

The company is looking for a solution that is simple to install and reliable over time. To meet these needs, IoT emerged as the best solution:

  • Quick and non-intrusive installation, without heavy work or cabling.
  • Optimised cost, especially when compared to traditional wired metering.
  • LoRaWAN technology, suitable for complex environments and ensuring reliable transmissions.
  • Flexible deployment, facilitating the gradual extension of the metering plan according to site requirements.

LoRaWAN remote meter reading solution for industrial buildings

1. Gas & water metering – PULSE LoRaWAN

The Adeunis PULSE sensor enables remote reading of gas and water meter values. It also offers the possibility of generating alerts in the event of fraud, leaks or threshold exceedances.

Veolia chose it for:

  • its ease of implementation,
  • its significantly lower cost compared to wired solutions.

2. Monitoring indoor environments – COMFORT SERENITY

For energy management and occupant comfort, Veolia uses COMFORT SERENITY sensors that measure:

  • temperature (main use),
  • CO₂ levels (occasional monitoring depending on the site),
  • humidity levels (occasional monitoring depending on the site).

Easy to deploy, these sensors make it possible to monitor changes in environmental factors in buildings. The data collected is then used to adjust heating/ventilation rules and objectively determine comfort settings.

3. Supervision & maintenance: the KARE platform

Veolia uses KARE, Adeunis’ device management platform, to monitor the ‘health’ of its sensor fleet. KARE enables them to immediately identify any anomalies (network faults, battery issues, configuration problems, etc.) and respond quickly, without unnecessary travel.
