CITY OF AIX EN PROVENCE
AIX EN PROVENCE
The city of Aix-en-Provence is at the heart of the Aix-Marseille-Provence metropolitan area. It has a population of over 140,000. Committed to an intelligent city approach, it has for several years been taking steps to improve the energy performance of its buildings, while optimising operating costs and quality of service.
As part of the energy monitoring and management of its public buildings, the town of Aix-en-Provence wants to monitor the activity of its boilers. The aim is to obtain real-time data on the operation of the heating installations, as well as to quickly detect any malfunctions or programming discrepancies.
One of the main challenges lies in the heterogeneity of the council’s boiler fleet: over 60 pieces of equipment spread across the area, of different makes and models, with few standard interfacing possibilities.
So we had to find a simple, non-intrusive solution that could adapt to this diversity. The approach adopted involves monitoring the temperature at the boiler outlet (pipework), to detect actual heating activity using connected temperature sensors.
TEMP2S IoT sensors have been deployed in municipal buildings, enabling the temperature of boiler outlet pipes to be measured quickly and efficiently.
The sensors can be used to find out in real time whether the boiler is operating, and thus :
We chose Adeunis sensors for a number of reasons: their proven reliability during tests, the ability to store and send back the last 12 frames in the event of a connection loss, and the quality of the technical and sales support. The support, responsiveness and availability of the Adeunis teams were key factors in our choice.

By integrating these sensors into the Upciti hypervisor, they can be viewed centrally on computers and smartphones. Users will be able to receive automatic alerts in the event of an abnormal drop in the outside temperature.
This system significantly improves our responsiveness and our ability to anticipate problems, while helping to optimise energy consumption. The gains in operational efficiency are already perceptible.
